While most information systems graduates are worried about powering up their hard drives, Taylor Chiu is busy powering up his heart rate.

Chiu, who earned his bachelor’s degree in information systems in 2014, recently finished first at the April 2015 Utah State Olympic Weight Lifting Championship. During the event he competed in the 94 kg weight class.

When he is not busy working as a database engineer at Brevium, he blogs to help others break into the weight-lifting world. He credits his experience at the Marriott School with helping him advance his career and also his personal hobbies and interests.

“The information systems program not only helped me get my first job but also has given me the technical skills to set up my own website where I can spread more information about weightlifting,” Chiu explains.
